Measures have been put in place to ensure our mutual safety when you come to visit for your treatments.
At present I respectfully ask everyone to bring their own water and to pay in advance by bacs transfer if you are able. This is to minimise contact and still ensure a safe and relaxed visit to the cabin.
Hand sanitiser and masks are available on arrival. The only thing you will touch is the sanitised chair that you sit in and now that the full range of treatments are available I will wear a visor in addition to a mask.
Please stay alert and safe and I wish you all well and happy. Kelly
I have over 20 years experience in General Practice working for the NHS where I ran Smoking Cessation Clinics, Health Check Clinics, assisted in the Womens Health Clinic and worked with the Admin Team on reception. I also volunteer at the Pilgrims Hospices offering Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Reiki to palliative patients.
I started training in Holistic Therapies 4 years ago, initially practicing Reiki and later on Reflexology. On the first day of Reflexology study, in plaster following a foot operation, I was shown a Reflex point on my ear that corresponded to the surgery sight. When pressure was applied to this area there was an analgesic effect which meant that it was no longer necessary to take painkillers. I was only 3 days post surgery.
A quiet and intuitive approach, combined with the rural surroundings in which my therapy cabin is based, provide a nurturing environment for clients while they receive their treatments.
More recently I trained at the London School of Reflexology with Ziggie Bergman and now offer the innovative Bergman Method Facial Reflexology.
Committed to offering natural methods of Self Care and Wellbeing, I advise simple techniques which clients can take away and practice to assist the healing process between sessions.
Below is a link to a blog by the Federation of Holistic Therapists. It contains a short case study that I wrote on how I support a client with Parkinsons Disease. I wrote this as a contribution to an article in the autumn issue of International Therapist Magazine about Reflexology.
I am so excited to offer this fabulous new treatment to all my clients! Facial Reflexology has an extremely powerful impact on all body systems due to its close proximity to the brain and central nervous system. Additionally, it alleviates jaw tightness and pain, sinus congestion, migraines and stress. Added to this the stimulation to the muscles and blood vessels in the face gives a lovely healthy glow as it increases blood flow. Oh...and it feels absolutely amazing!
Sitting in a chair, this treatment can be done over clothes or with a towel wrapped around the body using oils. It incorporates upper back, arms, shoulders, neck and scalp. intermingled throughout with hand and ear reflexology and finishing with facial pressure points. It promotes improved sleep and deep relaxation.
An ancient Japanese healing therapy which works with the energy systems of the body. Used often in palliative care, It is a deeply relaxing treatment, alleviating stress and tension and increasing energy levels. You, the client lay fully clothed on the treatment table while the practitioner lays hands on the body to stimulate its own healing ability.
Your feet are a reflection of your whole body and can be read as a map, allowing the therapist to identify congested areas and work with you to bring about balance and well-being throughout all body systems, promoting self healing and relaxation. Received regularly, reflexology can help in the management of chronic conditions, hormonal imbalances such as menopause, stress and pain management and cancer.
Holistic Therapy, rather than addressing a specific symptom, works with the 'whole person' - mind, body and spirit.
It works in addition to or alternatively to conventional medical treatment, is natural, non-invasive and suitable for everybody. Bringing about balance throughout the whole person, it can aid relaxation for conditions such as anxiety, stress and muscle tension and relieve pain and discomfort.. It is important to find a suitable therapist - particularly one that is registered with a professional body - who you feel comfortable with and who takes time to discuss any health concerns during an initial health consultation and reviews regularly to adapt to changes.
I am committed to working with my clients in encouraging self-care. We spend time together discussing simple methods using hand and ear reflexology which can be practiced independently at home between sessions.
My mission is to provide holistic care in a safe, confidential and relaxed environment.
I have nurtured a calm, serene and non-judgmental space in which my clients can take time to re-centre, re-balance and relax.
The world has become extremely busy and self-care is often on the bottom of a very long 'To Do' list. Stress is a commonly used word and the mind and body connection invariably shows that psychological strain manifests in physical ailments. Pressure caused by ever increasing deadlines and work loads can cause mental health issues such as anxiety and depression and physical ailments such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, headaches and muscle aches in the short term. Sadly, long term stress has been shown to cause heart attacks, strokes and even suicide..
Not only do employees suffer ill health, but employers begin to notice increased discord, decreased concentration, increased sickness, and ultimately decreased productivity. To compound issues, a lesser workforce enforces more pressure on remaining employees and can often lead to high staff turnover.
The above paints a dark picture but actually there is a shift taking place and employers are observing the benefits of encouraging mindfulness and well-being for their employees and in doing so setting a precedent for other businesses in nurturing happier and more productive staff.
Well-being events can be incorporated into a working day or arranged as part of a training or inset event for example. Each taster treatment lasts 20 minutes and employees can choose between Reflexology or Indian Head Massage, neither of which necessitates removal of clothing, only shoes. This gives employers the opportunity to promote well-being and to say 'Thank You' to staff for their continued efforts. Additionally everyone involved benefits from the boost of giving and receiving and consequently inspiring a healthier morale and an awareness of the many advantages of self care as a step towards mindfulness and well-being.
You will always be offered a glass of tap water on arrival for your appointment to avoid using plastics and reduce waste. This also initiates the necessary flushing out of toxins from your system post treatment.
Each Reflexology session begins with a hot flannel wash which avoids the use of wet wipes, as these often end up in our oceans. This is a particularly pleasant start to your treatment too!
To reduce unnecessary waste I prefer to use fresh towels over pillows on the treatment couch, as apposed to reams of couch roll. These are small and easily air dried to further help preserve the environment.
It can often take a few sessions to address a particular issue to bring about balance, and this package helps to budget for that.
Alternatively, having paid ahead for 4 sessions you can book them in at your convenience!
It always makes me smile when my clients take up this offer! Inevitably I have one person on the treatment bed receiving a treatment while the other is on the sofa or on a recliner on the covered deck and they are both fast asleep! It's a very relaxing time. For all of us......
This gives a lovely opportunity for a relaxing catch-up at home with your friends while you all take in turns to have a treatment of your choice. You can book in advance with a deposit and all you have to worry about are the nibbles!
